About

Acer campbellii ssp. sinense is a Chinese maple closely related to Japanese maple, with large palmate leaves that emerge chartreuse-green in early spring. The tree develops into an upright specimen reaching 12-15 feet in 20 years, demonstrating cold hardiness in northern regions and heat tolerance in southern climates. Fall color transitions through bright orange to deep red tones. This subspecies is typically propagated onto Acer palmatum rootstock.
